Ffion Roberts is a recent Geography graduate from Manchester University now working as a Project Officer (intern) at Manchester Climate Change Agency (MCCA). Recent work includes developing, with the Director of MCCA and partners, a new strategy supporting different faith communities in Greater Manchester to take action to reduce climate change. Ffion also took part in Manchester’s first ever Climathon event and has recently completed carbon literacy training. Whilst at University she studied a range of subjects from energy and air quality issues, water management and reducing flood risks to addressing poverty and increasing sustainability. She also undertook research in many of these fields including energy conservation at the HQ of Snowdonia National Park. Her dissertation explored Manchester’s response to WWF’s annual climate change campaign, Earth Hour and questioned whether this global campaign led to any behaviour change towards more pro-environmental behaviours and what, if anything, could have increased the response. Her environmental interests include the interaction between humans and the environment; carbon reduction, climate resilience and adaptation and she hopes to pursue these further as opportunities arise.
